....."He was killed in action the 9th of April 1942 during the last days of fighting in the Bataan Peninsula. We never got his body back....only his ring came home which was given to your Tia Veling in Manila by his Lieutenant and the story of how he died. This was months later after the fighting, during the Japanese occupation." ......
