To whom it may concern,
Lakambini Ramos recently played an all Chopin recital at St. Malachy's -
The Actors' Chapel in New York City. The event marked the inaugural performance
on our new 9' Steinway concert grand and Ms. Ramos played beautifully. Only a
finely seasoned musician such as Ms. Ramos could have displayed such command
over the instrument within the space. Her understanding of the power of its
sound and subtlety of its action was masterful, as was her program.
Knowing that her audience would consist of pianophiles and less musically
educated people alike, she chose repertoire that appealed to the sophisticated
listener as well as the newcomer. Lyrical, powerful, pensive, joyful and
sparkling, her renditions of Chopin ETUDES, NOCTURNE, BALLADE, FANTAISIE,
PRELUDE, SCHERZO, WALTZES, TARANTELLA and POLONAISE were beautifully rounded and
caringly thought out. Ms. Ramos plays with a warmth and depth of sound rarely
found in pianists today. She understands the music that she plays and gives it
to her audience with a gentle grace that leaves them smiling and excited for the
next time they can hear her.
Ms. Ramos has a loyal following willing to travel a considerable distance
to hear her in recital. You can't blame them because she is a treat to hear. She
is also a pleasure to work with. Dependable, knowlegeable, flexible and easy
going, she would be an asset to any Presenter's lineup.
I highly recommend Lakambini Ramos for any music series. She's an outstanding
musician and your audiences will love her.
